NET METERING

Net metering allows residential and commercial customers who generate their own electricity from solar power to sell the electricity they aren't using back into the grid. Many countries have passed net metering laws.

In some countries, utilities may offer net metering programs voluntarily or as a result of regulatory decisions. Differences between country legislation, regulatory decisions and implementation policies mean that the mechanism for compensating solar customers varies widely across  countries.

WHAT IS NET METERING

Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar energy system owners for the electricity they add to the grid.

For example, if a residential customer has a PV system on their roof, it may generate more electricity than the home uses during daylight hours. If the home is net-metered, the electricity meter will run backward to provide a credit against what electricity is consumed at night or other periods when the home's electricity use exceeds the system's output. Customers are only billed for their "net" energy use. On average, only 20-40% of a solar energy system’s output ever goes into the grid, and this exported solar electricity serves nearby customers’ loads.

In addition, with virtual offsetting, it is possible to offset the electricity produced with the total electricity consumed, regardless of the place where it is produced and consumed. In other words, production is spatially disconnected from consumption in terms of energy offsetting.

  • Signing the connection agreement

  • Signing of netting agreement

  • Solar system construction and placement

  • Connection of solar system to the grid

PREREQUISITES

  • Maximum power 20kW with 100% offset. For higher power, a 50% energy offset

  • It is allowed to install fixed or tracker photovoltaic systems on a roof, terrace, ground, or other structures, always in accordance with the existing urban planning legislation

  • Energy netting produced by the photovoltaic system with the energy consumed by the user of the space will be done every three years

  • The netting contract is valid from the day of activation of the connection to the electricity network.

  • Each photovoltaic system is assigned a distinct consumption meter

  • The power of the system cannot exceed 500 Kw

  • It can also be installed by the lessee of a property

  • Connection of solar system to the grid
